The Connecticut Chapter of the National Association of Social Workers (NASW/CT) recognized a Saint Joseph College instructor, alumna, and student as honorees at the 2010 Annual Awards Dinner.

Gail Champlin, center, received the Lifetime Achievement Award; Catherine Havens, right, received the Educator of the Year Award; and Ashley Mouta, left, received the Student of the Year Award.

The NASW is the primary and largest professional social work association in the United States.

Mahoney Sabol & Co., LLP, announced that partner John Bauer has been named Citizen of the Year by the Deep River Rotary Club. Bauer was recognized for his 13 years as a Deep River volunteer firefighter.

Nurse assistant students at Middlesex Community College’s downtown Meriden Center will benefit from The Meriden Foundation Allied Health Lab, thanks to a $12,537 major gift from the foundation.

The center also received $3,000 contributions from both The CUNO Foundation and the James H. Napier Foundation.

The new lab will enhance Middlesex Community’s certified nurse aide program there and will be ready for the nurse class that begins Sept. 15.
