Rockville Bank is the first bank in Connecticut to participate in a national “Senior Crimestoppers Program.” The Vernon community bank serves Tolland, Hartford and New London counties. It is partnering with The Senior Housing Crime Prevention Foundation on the project.

The 2010 Travelers Walk MS, presented by Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center, ended June 18. The event, hosted for more than 26 years by the National MS Society Connecticut Chapter, exceeded its original $1.22 million goal by raising more than $1.3 million this year. More than 9,000 Connecticut residents participated. In Connecticut, over 6,000 residents live with multiple sclerosis, a chronic autoimmune disease for which there currently is no cure. Funds raised by the 2010 Travelers Walk MS support scientific research and programs for the National MS Society, Connecticut Chapter.

Tonya Rondinone, lecturer in the department of psychology at Saint Joseph College in West Hartford, is the 2010 recipient of the Rev. John J. Stack Teaching Excellence Award, presented annually at the college’s commencement ceremony. A Wallingford resident, Rondinone earned an M.A. in psychology from Southern Connecticut State University and a B.A. in psychology from Niagara University. She has taught at Saint Joseph since 1998. As the Stack Award winner, Rondinone will deliver the fall convocation address on Aug. 30.
