Longobardi Joins Board Of Arthritis Foundation

Frank Longobardi, managing partner of J.H. Cohn’s Connecticut office, has been named to the national board of directors of the Arthritis Foundation.

The all-volunteer board, comprised of key stakeholders from around the country, acts as the governing body of the organization in its mission to prevent, control and cure arthritis, the nation’s most common cause of disability. In the United States, 50 million people live with some form of arthritis.

Longobardi, a CPA, is a co-founder of Haggett Longobardi, which combined practices with J.H. Cohn in 2007. He serves as a member of the J.H. Cohn Executive Committee and is leader of the firm’s Industry Group Practice.

He also serves as a member of the Connecticut Business and Industry Association’s board of directors. He is a past chairman of the board of directors of the Arthritis Foundation’s Northern and Southern New England Chapter and served as co-chairman of the Foundation’s annual gala for many years. He also serves as a board member of the Saint Francis Hospital Foundation, the National Conference for Community and Justice, and as a member of the finance committee of Wampanoag Country Club.

CCSU Wins Carnegie Honor

Central Connecticut State University has been designated as a Carnegie Community Engagement Institution by the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching. CCSU is one of 115 U.S. colleges and universities selected this year for the special classification.

Carnegie cited Central for its “exemplary” practices of community engagement” and “excellent” alignment among its mission, culture, leadership, resources, and practices that support dynamic and noteworthy community engagement.

School of Business students developed a business plan for the downtown New Britain Community Central project, which has received internal funding to establish a storefront presence for CCSU while delivering after-school programs for youth.

Students and faculty involved students from a local teen pregnancy prevention program in after-school laboratory research projects, constructed an eco-friendly Naturescape, and organized a health fair for members of the Naylor School community.

McKnights Win McDonald’s Award

John and Pattie McKnight, owner/operators of the McDonald’s of North Haven, have won the fast food company’s ‘Ronald Award’ for the Boston region. The award is presented to an owner/operator(s) who has made outstanding contributions to the McDonald’s brand, his local community and his customers.

Pattie McKnight is president of the board at the Ronald McDonald House in New Haven; vice president of the board of the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts; and chairperson of the Connecticut and Western Massachusetts McDonald’s Owner/Operator Association’s public relations committee.

John McKnight serves on both the purchasing and finance committees that represent the local owner/operators in Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. John is also an ex-officio board member of the Ronald McDonald House of Connecticut and an honorary board member of both Kids For Kids and Dancing for Life organizations.
