Masonicare’s Venoit Honored By Assisted Living Association

Jon-Paul Venoit of Masonicare was recently honored with the Connecticut Assisted Living Association’s Distinguished Service Award.

Under Venoit’s leadership, Ashlar Village, Masonicare’s continuing care retirement and assisted living community, has completed a multi-million-dollar expansion project. He recently took on the added responsibility for assisted living at Masonicare at Newtown and independent living at Masonicare Health Center. Venoit was recently named senior vice president of residential services for all of Masonicare.

Venoit, who began his career with Ashlar Village as a waiter while still in high school, is a past chairman of the Quinnipiac Chamber of Commerce; secretary of the Wallingford Planning & Zoning Commission; a member of the Wallingford Education Foundation, and a member of the Board of Governors at MidState Medical Center.

The assisted living organization, formed in 1995, supports assisted living providers and associated members through educational programs, legislative and public policy advocacy, and other initiatives. The award was presented at its annual dinner Dec. 8 at the Aqua Turf in Southington.

Liftig Heads Museum Board

S. Rick Liftig, a West Hartford native with a dental practice in Elmwood, has been elected chair of the board of trustees at The Children’s Museum.

Dr. Liftig has been on the board of trustees at The Children’s Museum since February of 2007, and co-chaired the Governance Committee. He is also the president of the Elmwood Business Association, and is a member of the Rotary Club of West Hartford and West Hartford Chamber of Commerce.

In addition, three West Hartford residents were elected to the Board of Trustees at the museum’s annual meeting — Clifton E. McPherson, senior director of quality control for Protein Sciences Corp. in Meriden; Danielle P. Ferrucci, an associate with Shipman & Goodwin LLP, and Andrew Morrow, principal of Bristow Middle School in West Hartford.

The board also created a new “Friends of the Children’s Museum” support organization to help with advocacy, advice and fundraising. It will be co-chaired by Ellen Brown and Glenn Cunningham, long time supporters and past board members.

The Children’s Museum offers over 100 live animals, hands-on science exhibits, digital planetarium shows, and programs for younger children and families. It hosts more than 200,000 visitors annually.

Bay Path College Honored

The Hartford-Springfield Economic Partnership has selected Bay Path College as the recipient of its College InternHero Award for its special support of InternHere.com and the large number of undergraduates who have benefited from the program. The college was recognized at the partnership’s State of the Region Conference in East Windsor Dec. 9.

The Web site features over a thousand, regional business and organizations that post internship opportunities. Students can search for internships and apply to opportunities online.
