Pair From PDS To Lead Construction Managers

The Connecticut chapter of the Construction Management Association of America has elected two executives from PDS Engineering & Construction to its top posts. Bill Jodice will be president of the group with Randy Becker serving as vice president.

The chapter promotes leadership, professionalism and excellence in managing the development and construction of projects and programs.

Law Collaborative In New Home

The Hartford law offices of Wiggin and Dana LLP will be home to the Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity for the next two years.

The collaborative’s mission is to unite the efforts of Connecticut’s law firms, corporations, public sector entities, law schools and state bar associations in the joint goal of making the state a more attractive place for lawyers of color and women to practice law and find professional opportunities. Carolyn Golden Hebsgaard is the executive director and Ann Randall is program coordinator.

Wiggin and Dana is a founding member of the collaborative and sponsors its Justices of Color Reception and the Edwin Archer Randolph Diversity Award event.

Merriam To Lead ABA Section

Dwight Merriam, a partner at Robinson & Cole LLP, has been elected chair of the American Bar Association’s 11,000-member Section of State and Local Government Law. 

Merriam has just published his seventh book, “At the Cutting Edge 2010,” and achieved an unintended milestone in October when he spoke at a seminar on land use for planners and lawyers in Pierre, South Dakota — he has now given speeches in all 50 states.

Ethics Director Honored

Carol Carson, executive director of the Connecticut Office of State Ethics, has received the Outstanding Service Award from the Council on Governmental Ethics Laws. The honor, presented at the international group’s conference in Washington, D.C., recognizes her “leadership and willingness to give of herself” to make the council a vibrant association of officials.

Carson, who has held the Connecticut post since December 2007, is a past president of the national group. She also is a member of the editorial board of the Public Integrity Journal and she serves on the City of Hartford Civilian Police Review Board.

Realtors Honor Dazzo

Angela Dazzo, Realtor with Coldwell Banker in Stamford, has won the Harry W. Wenz Good Neighbor Award from the Connecticut Association of Realtors for making an extraordinary commitment to helping others through volunteer work. She is known as “Angel” to her friends and has been an angel to the “Angels for Alzheimer’s Cure” committee. As part of the award, the association is making a $1,000 donation in her name to that group.
