The Connecticut Bar Association Planning and Zoning Section recently honored attorney Joseph A. Capossela with its lifetime achievement award for service to the legal profession, to the land use bar, and to the Connecticut community. ENCORE! HARTFORD RECEIVES AWARD FOR JOB TRAINING

Encore!Hartford, a nonprofit leadership and job training program for transitioning corporate professionals, has received a national Outstanding Program Award from the University Professional and Continuing Education Association.

The program was launched last year by the University of Connecticut’s Center for Continuing Studies in conjunction with Leadership Greater Hartford and other area nonprofit groups.

Encore!Hartford assists unemployed corporate professionals in transitioning their skill-sets and experience into successful professional and managerial employment in Connecticut’s nonprofit sector. The first class of 23 Encore!Hartford fellows graduated in June 2010. To date, 78 percent of the pilot class is working as full- or part-time nonprofit professionals. The second class of 24 fellows will graduate on June 16.
