Webster CEO named to national board
James C. Smith, the chairman, president and chief executive officer of Webster Financial Corp., has been appointed to the board of directors of the Financial Services Roundtable in Washington, D.C.
The Financial Services Roundtable represents 100 of the largest integrated financial services companies providing banking, insurance, and investment products and services to the American consumer.
Webster Financial Corp. is the Waterbury-based holding company for Webster Bank.
Smith was appointed to the Roundtable board for a three-year term. He is also co-chairman of the American Bankers Council, is on the executive committee of the Connecticut Bankers Association and recently completed a three-year term as a member of the board of directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Alemany joins Constitution Center
Ellen Alemany, chairman and CEO of Citizens Financial Group Inc., has been elected to a three-year term on the Board of Trustees of the National Constitution Center. The board is led by former President William J. Clinton.
The National Constitution Center is an independent, nonpartisan, nonprofit organization in Philadelphia dedicated to increasing public understanding of the U.S. Constitution and the ideas and values it represents. The center serves as a museum, an education center and a forum for debate on constitutional issues.
Alemany is the only woman responsible for one of the top 12 commercial banking companies in the United States.
Citizens Financial Group Inc. is headquartered in Providence and operates under the Citizens Bank brand in Connecticut.

Logistics firm honored
William B. Meyer Inc. in Stratford was awarded the Commitment to Excellence Platinum Award for exceptional measurable service results as a member of the global network of Cartus Corp. Meyer, a founding agent of United Van Lines, is a family-owned single-source storage, logistics, and relocation provider. Cartus is part of Realogy Corp. — a global provider of real estate and relocation services.

Banking commissioner named to boardÂ
State Banking Commissioner Howard F. Pitkin has been appointed to the board of directors of the National Association of State Credit Union Supervisors, the national body responsible for chartering, supervising and regulating the nation’s state-chartered credit unions.
Pitkin was appointed to fill an unexpired one-year term, ending in September. He has more than 30 years of experience as a state regulator, and previously served on the association’s board from 2003-2005, when he was the agency’s administrator of depository institutions.
