Mill Pond Village manager

wins national leasing honor

Andrew Lund, of the Broad Brook section of East Windsor, has been named National Apartment Leasing Professional of the Year by the National Apartment Association Education Institute.

Lund is property manager of WinnResidential’s 312-unit Mill Pond Village in Broad Brook. He joined the industry in 2008 when he was hired as assistant manager of The Loft at Main and Temple in Hartford. In only five months, he helped increase occupancy from 85 percent to 100 percent.

Since taking over Mill Pond Village, he has reduced turnover by 7 percent year over year, increased occupancy from 93 percent to 96 percent and increased resident satisfaction. He is credited with developing relationships with residents that exceed the normal call of duty by often working after hours to help them move in or holding resident meetings. He also started an incentive program for his staff to encourage leasing and increase closing rates, which have risen from 25 percent to 34 percent in just a short time.

Lund is active with the Connecticut association, serving on its board as treasurer. The association named him as its Leasing Consultant of the Year in 2008.
