ROSA NAMED TO BOARD OF PORTUGESE COUNCIL
Fernando G. Rosa, the deputy director of the Hartford Economic Development Corp., has been reelected chairman of the board of directors of the national Portuguese-American Leadership Council.
Rosa also serves as vice president of the CCSU Alumni Association and director of the Capital Workforce Partners. He served two terms as president of the Connecticut Economic Development Association; 12 years as chairman of the Wethersfield Economic Development and Improvement Commission; two terms as chairman of the Board of Directors of Catholic Charities; two terms as chairman of the Allocation Committee and member of the Board of Directors of Unites Way. He is the founder and served two terms as president of the Portuguese Foundation.
The Portuguese-American Leadership Council conducts an expanding program of research, educational and public affairs activities on issues of interest to the Portuguese American community.

JUDGE HEADS COMMITTEE
The Lawyers Collaborative for Diversity Inc. has named Judge Barry Stevens to chair the Edwin Archer Randolph Diversity Award Committee. Over the next few months, Stevens will manage the nomination and selection of this year’s awardees and on May 12 will oversee the presentation of the award at the Wadsworth Athenaeum.
Stevens has been a state Superior Court judge for 16 years, presiding the past four years as a judge on the Complex Litigation Docket in Waterbury Superior Court. He also sits as a judge of the Bridgeport Juvenile Court. For 30 years, he has been an adjunct professor at Trinity College in Hartford, and also has worked as a visiting professor at Quinnipiac University School of Law in Hamden.

EMERSON JOINS COMMITTEE
Anthony L. Emerson, president and CEO of the Credit Union League of Connecticut in Meriden, has accepted an invitation from the American Association of Credit Union Leagues to serve on its political involvement and grassroots committee. The committee’s focus is to provide direction and feedback in the development, implementation, and championing of political and grassroots programs for the Credit Union System.

HARTFORD HOSPITAL CARDIOLOGIST HONORED
Hartford Hospital cardiologist Steven L. Zweibel has been selected as a fellow in the Heart Rhythm Society. The designation distinguishes members for their specialization in electrophysiology, the diagnosis and treatment of heart rhythm disorders.

ENGINEERS HONORED
Pratt & Whitney and the Hartford chapter of the American Society of Mechanical Engineers honored five Distinguished Engineers of the Year at the group’s annual awards dinner in Manchester during National Engineers Week.
Honored for their work on the F135 Short Take Off/Vertical Landing (STOVL) engine are:
• Robert Fagan of Glastonbury, chief engineer;
• Thomas Clerkin of Ivoryton, design integration manager;
• Matthew Consadene of Andover, validation manager;
• Robert Law of Tolland, performance manager;
• And Tory Brogan of Manchester, augmentor aerodynamics manager.
