FROST & SULLIVAN HONORS RSL FIBER

RSL Fiber Systems LLC of East Hartford recently took home honors for being in the forefront of technological innovation with its advanced remote lighting systems for commercial and military applications.

RSL was one of 35 companies recognized by internationally-renowned research leader Frost & Sullivan at its annual “Excellence in Best Practices” awards event Feb. 9 in New Orleans.

UNION SAVINGS BANK GETS SBA EAGLE AWARD

Danbury’s Union Savings Bank is the recipient of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s 2010 Eagle Award for 2010 in “outstanding contribution” category. Union Savings was chosen based on its growing number of SBA loans. An SBA partner since 1984, the $2.5 billion-asset mutual lender grew its loan portfolio 20 percent, consisting of rural and urban loans and more than one in five of its loans distributed to new businesses.

ESSEX SAVINGS’ SHOOK ON BOSTON FED PANEL

Essex Savings Bank CEO Gregory Shook is one of 12 New England community bank executives seated on a key advisory panel at the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston.

Shook serves on the regional Fed’s newly formed First District Community Depository Institutions Advisory Council.

Each Federal Reserve Bank is establishing a CDIAC to represent the perspective of smaller financial institutions as part of the Dodd-Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act of 2010.

The 12 members represent commercial banks, thrifts, and credit unions with assets below $10 billion.

Members are from the six New England states: Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, and Vermont.

CONNECTICUT WATER GARNERS SAFETY AWARD

Clinton-based Connecticut Water Co. won its seventh consecutive safety recognition award from the Connecticut Construction Industries Association.

Recipients demonstrate they have a solid construction safety and health program.

Connecticut Water serves nearly 300,000 people in 55 towns.
