CONNECTION FUND RECEIVES DEVELOPER AWARD

The Connection Fund, established in 1989 to promote affordable housing in the state, is one of three housing developers to receive the Connecticut Mortgage Bankers Association’s Affordable Housing Committee Award. The other winners were Local Initiatives Support Corp. from Boston and Federal Home Loan Bank of Boston.

RICHETELLI NAMED TO CHAIRMAN POST

Michael Richetelli, president of Colonial Properties Inc. in Orange, has been named chairman for the Greater New Haven Association of Realtors Commercial Investment Division — a group of approximately 100 commercial real estate professionals who meet monthly to exchange information and facilitate deals. In related news, Fred A. Messore, vice president at Colonial Properties, was awarded with the Deal of the Year for most completed transactions in 2011. Messore, who completed 29 deals last year, has been with Colonial for five years.

NORTH CENTRAL CT CHAMBER ELECTS BOARD

The North Central Connecticut Chamber of Commerce held its annual meeting and auction recently where new board directors were elected including: Derek Mead, InnoVest Financial Services; Emily Miller, Miller Farms Family Market — Shop Rite; Gail Albetski, New England Bank; Gary Guminiak, Hallmark Cards; Karen Owens, Raffia Road & Spring Street Service Centers; and Robert Saunders, J.R. Russo & Associates. The chamber also honored the Springfield/Enfield Holiday Inn as Business of the Year, and Jennifer Kiner of Howland and Sargent as Volunteer of the Year.

UTC’S CHENEVERT NAMED PERSON OF THE YEAR

Aviation Week has selected Louis R. Chenevert, chairman and CEO of United Technologies — parent company to Pratt & Whitney, Sikorsky and Hamilton Sundstrand — as its 2011 Person of the Year. Chenevert keyed Pratt & Whitney’s resurgence, while reinvigorating UTC in the aerospace and defense industries. The Person of the Year distinction, the seventh in Aviation Week’s 96-year history, recognizes the impact individuals have on the broader aerospace and defense community.

22 CT COMPANIES HONORED FOR BOARD DIVERSITY

Twenty-two Connecticut companies were recently honored at The Boston Club’s Corporate Salute, a biennial celebration that recognizes companies in New England with two or more women directors. WATERBURY FIRM HANDS OUT SCHOLARSHIP

Charles Heaven & Company, Waterbury’s oldest accounting firm, recently awarded Waterbury resident and Post University student, Jessica Monell, a $500 scholarship. Monell, a junior accounting major, was singled out for displaying significant growth in her accounting studies over the past six months. Enrico Melaragno from Heaven & Co. presented the scholarship check to Monell.
