• The Hartford Foundation for Public Giving presented HartBeat Ensemble with a $90,000 grant. The funding will go towards adding a permanent managing director and development director for the theater company.
• Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts awarded the Greater New Britain Teen Pregnancy Prevention Inc. with $5,470 to provide back-to-school supplies. Lake Street School in Vernon received $10,000 to complete the school’s playscape rebuilding project and Lincoln Elementary School in New Britain received $10,000 to build a barrier-free playground. Saint Francis Hospital and Medical Center received $13,626 for their car seats and safety information program.
• William D. Clegg, president and managing partner of Schoenhardt Architecture and Interior Design in Simsbury, was inducted to the International Interior Design Association’s College of Fellows. Members are recognized for outstanding contributions to the organization, to the profession of interior design, and to the community.
