Open Solutions Inc., a provider of integrated enabling technologies for financial services providers throughout the United States, Canada and other international markets, has been ranked on the Technology Fast 500, Deloitte LLP’s ranking of 500 of the fastest growing technology, media, telecommunications, life sciences and clean technology companies in North America. Rankings are based on percentage of fiscal year revenue growth during the five-year period from 2004 — 2008. Open Solutions grew more than 302 percent during this period.

 

• HYPE, Hartford Young Professionals and Entrepreneurs, has announced the winners of Entrepreneurship Awards. The Entrepreneurship Awards recognize budding and enterprising ventures run by young business people and honors those who have helped re-energize the small business climate in the Hartford Region. The winners of this year’s Entrepreneurship Awards were:

– Goodwin College Business Launch Award: VLO Group New England LLC, Cherie Griffith-Dunn

– NERAC Business Excellence Award: Excel Fitness LLC, Jeff Roux

• Thirty-six Connecticut credit unions donated 70 staff and board members as volunteers to provide seven high schools with the Financial Reality Fair experience at the state Capitol in Hartford on Nov. 4. Attendees included students, teachers, political representatives, state officials, and representatives from schools not in attendance but interested in this financial literacy event.

 

• The Connecticut Power and Energy Society (CPES) and the Connecticut Business & Industry Association (CBIA) announced their $500 donation to Operation Fuel at the 10th annual “What’s the Deal?” business energy conference, which was sponsored by CPES and CBIA. Operation Fuel’s Executive Director Patricia Wrice said the donation comes at a critical time as a significant number of families and elderly residents, who will need energy assistance this heating season, have called. Last winter, Operation Fuel gave out an unprecedented $6.5 million in emergency energy assistance to over 14,000 households throughout Connecticut.
