• Exterior Plus LLC, Harwood Custom Carpentry and Tiger Claw, all of Bristol, took first place in the Deck Design competition at the 2008 Remodeling Show, held recently in Baltimore, Md. For three consecutive days, five deck-building companies, along with six manufacturers, competed to build the best deck in terms of design, execution and workmanship.
• CAL Business Solutions Inc., a provider of Microsoft Dynamics GP accounting software in Harwinton, was chosen by Accounting Technology Magazine as one of the select 100 Pacesetters for 2008. The goal of Pacesetters is to honor technology firms that carry accounting software as the central part of their product line. The winners were selected on criteria that included leadership, industry reputation, and company growth.
• Connecticut Water of Clinton was recently presented with The Connecticut Construction Industries Association’s 2008 Safety Recognition Award. To receive the award, companies must demonstrate they have a solid construction safety and health program. Connecticut Water was evaluated on 17 categories that included management involvement, employee training, safety hazard analysis, noncompliance and correction of violations. This is the fifth year in a row that Connecticut Water has received the award.
• Hartford Hospital has been awarded with the highest honor from a prestigious national registry. The Henry Low Heart Center was recognized for consistently providing high-quality care for patients suffering potentially fatal heart attacks. The center received the first-ever Silver Performance Achievement Award from the National Cardiovascular Data Registry, a patient database originally developed by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association.
