• Hartford Hospital’s Henry Low Heart Center was recognized for consistently providing high-quality care for patients suffering potentially fatal heart attacks. It received the first-ever Silver Performance Achievement Award from the National Cardiovascular Data Registry, a patient database originally developed by the American College of Cardiology and the American Heart Association. The Silver Performance Achievement Award is currently the highest honor given to hospitals that participate in the registry.
• Affordable housing projects across Connecticut are again getting assistance, thanks to Connecticut Light & Power Co. and the Connecticut Low Income Housing Tax Program. In 2008, CL&P purchased more than $5.7 million in tax credits with the proceeds used to assist developers in the building of affordable and assisted living housing projects across the state. Through the Connecticut Low Income Housing Tax Program, CL&P has contributed more than $27 million to the development of affordable housing since 2002.
• Mercy Community Health has been named to the 2008 HomeCare Elite, a compilation of the most successful Medicare-certified home health care providers in the United States. This annual review identifies the top 25 percent of agencies, ranked by an analysis of performance measures in quality outcomes, quality improvement and financial performance. Mercy Community Health was recognized for this distinction in 2007, as well.
