• Joyce Boncal, owner of Advertise You in Newington, received an award from The Small Business Network. Boncal was recognized for the mentoring and support she gave to fellow members of the network.
• The Connecticut Institute for the Blind Inc. in Hartford received a $5,270 grant from Ronald McDonald House Charities of Connecticut and Western Massachusetts. The donation will be used to provide educational equipment for the New England Assistive Technology Marketplace lending library in the resource center.
• The SBM Charitable Foundation Inc. in Manchester awarded $547,775 in grants to area nonprofits in the fourth quarter of 2007. Those receiving donations included East Hartford-based Boy Scouts of America, Connecticut Valley Girl Scouts, Hartford Symphony Orchestra, Manchester Symphony Orchestra and Chorale Inc., Hartford’s Camp Courant, Mark Twain House, My Sister’s Place, Interval House, Vernon’s Kidsafe CT, Lutz Children’s Museum, Visiting Nurses & Health Services of Connecticut Inc., Foodshare and Eastern Community Health Network.
