• Rockville Bank has earned Bauer Financial Inc.’s highest five-star superior rating for financial strength and stability for the 14th consecutive quarter. The rating is based on the bank’s overall financial picture and five-star rating indicates that Rockville Bank is one of the strongest in the nation.
• The Connecticut Economic Development Association seeks nominations for work force development achievement awards. One award will be presented in each of the following categories: community college; business or company; work force investment board; public or private organization involved in a partnership; and other institutions of higher education. Completed applications must be received by Feb. 25 in order to be eligible. Finalists will be notified by telephone or through the mail.
• Laubacher Multimedia has launched its newest Web site, DiscoverSouthWindsor.com. This site was developed to inform citizens and market the many sightseeing, family fun, dining and shopping opportunities South Windsor has to offer. DiscoverSouthWindsor.com allows visitors to post reviews of area restaurants, stores, golf courses and other entertainment venues in the area. The site is sponsored by the South Windsor Chamber of Commerce.
• Gov. M. Jodi Rell has announced $3.6 million to fund design work for maintenance and improvements to the New Haven Rail Line. Design work will include platform repair, canopy improvements, safety improvements to stairs, ramps, handrails and lighting fixtures. A visual inspection report completed by the state Department of Transportation identified numerous needed repairs.
