• For the fourth time in five years, Adams & Knight was named Marketer of the Year at the Connecticut Chapter of the American Marketing Association’s annual awards ceremony. Adams & Knight won the top award for a multifaceted public relations campaign that rallied public support and saved The Heart Center of Greater Waterbury from imminent closure by the state. The entry was the only one that earned a perfect score from the nationwide judges, who evaluated each entry’s strategy, execution and results.

• The Hartford Financial Services Group Inc. has been named one of the World’s Most Ethical Companies by the Ethisphere Institute for the second consecutive year. Ethisphere’s researchers and analysts reviewed more than 10,000 companies in order to determine the finalists. Over the last few years, The Hartford has engaged in a companywide, systematic effort to build an even stronger, more cohesive ethics and compliance program for its 31,000-employee organization.

• Intellectual Property Today ranked Cantor Colburn LLP 16th in its annual survey of top patent firms in the U.S. in 2008, up from 19th in 2007. Cantor Colburn was attorney of record for 1,173 issued patents in 2008. This is the second year that Cantor Colburn is ranked among the country’s top 20 firms for patents issued. Among law firms with a Connecticut office, Cantor Colburn was ranked first.
