S E A Consultants Inc., was honored by the Society for Marketing Professional Services (SMPS)/Connecticut Chapter with a Marketing Communication Award. SMPS presented S E A Consultants its top award in the category of “best web site.” SMPS represents a network of over 7,000 marketing and business development professionals from various architectural, engineering, planning, interior design, construction, and specialty consulting firms. The Connecticut chapter, with nearly 100 members, is one of 53 chapters located throughout the United States and Canada.

 

Connecticut Water Co. has received national recognition for maintaining quality facilities and processes and providing its customers with drinking water quality that is better than required by state and federal water quality standards. The company was recently presented with the Directors Award from the Partnership for Safe Water, a national volunteer initiative developed by the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Connecticut Water has maintained the Directors Award for 10 years, an honor achieved by only 16 water utilities across the country.

 

Connecticut Innovations (CI), the state’s quasi-public authority responsible for technology investing and innovation development, announced that it has made an investment of $750,000 in Soft Tissue Regeneration Inc. (STR) through its Eli Whitney Fund. This investment is part of a $3.5 million Series A round also involving Philadelphia-based MentorTech Ventures II LP. STR is in the process of relocating its operations from Charlottesville, Va., to Connecticut.

Gov. M. Jodi Rell has appointed a top Office of Policy and Management official to work closely with municipalities and regional planning organizations to help them expedite their stimulus-funded projects and navigate the regulations and tight deadlines required under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009 (ARRA). The governor said OPM Undersecretary of Intergovernmental Policy David LeVasseur will serve a stimulus ombudsman to local and regional officials. LeVasseur has overseen the state Office of Responsible Growth since its inception in 2006. The former first selectman of Killingworth, LeVasseur has an extensive background as a planner
