MidState Medical Center Wound Care team wins award

The MidState Medical Center Wound Care team has received the 2014 Excellence in the Workplace Award from the Connecticut Nurses’ Association. The award recognizes a workplace that empowers nurses to create an environment that promotes professional autonomy and control over nursing practices.

The MidState Medical Center team’s healing rates, the most significant quality measure in their specialty, are greater than 92 percent and their patient satisfaction scores average higher than 94 percent. Both are consistently above national averages.

CT Landmarks Wins 4 Architecture Awards for Recent Renovation Projects

The Connecticut Chapter of the American Institute of Architects has awarded Connecticut Landmarks four architecture awards for some of their most recent projects.

Projects that received recognition include the Hartford Campus Project, which involved the renovation and adaptive reuse of the Amos Bull House and Butler-McCook Carriage House.

Connecticut Landmark’s Nathan Hale Visitor Services Project also received recognition. That involved the renovation and reuse of the historic ell to create a museum store, public restrooms and increased program space. 

Connecticut Landmarks received the following awards: the “Preservation Citation,” “Business Design Award,” and two “People’s Choice Awards.”

CT Agriculture Commish Named to Nat’l Leadership Role

Connecticut Agriculture Commissioner Steven K. Reviczky has taken a leadership role that he says gives the state a direct voice in national agricultural policy.

Reviczky was unanimously elected to serve as the National Association of State Departments of Agriculture (NASDA) Association’s secretary/treasurer for 2015 at its annual meeting in Burlington, Vt.

He is now automatically set to ascend through the association’s board of director positions, becoming president in 2018.

He said his role will be critical as issues such as Farm Bill implementation, continued development of the Food Safety Modernization Act, changes in dairy-support programs, agricultural labor, truck weights and other matters continue to be addressed.

Enfield Architect Earns Healthcare Facilities Accreditation

The American College of Healthcare Architects said Kirsten Waltz, managing principal of Steffian Bradley Architect’s Enfield office, has earned her board certificate in healthcare architecture.

Waltz recently passed an accredited examination, which assesses the knowledge and understanding of architects who practice as healthcare specialists. She joins the ranks of over 400 ACHA colleagues in the U.S. and Canada who have received this architectural credential.
