• The Masters in Business Administration program at the University of Hartford’s Barney School of Business is among the most highly rated by students in the “general management” category, according to The Princeton Review’s second annual ‘Student Opinion Honors for Business Schools’ lists. The six lists, which appear in the April issue of Entrepreneur magazine, each names 15 graduate schools of business that were most highly rated by their students in various disciplines — accounting, finance, general management, global management, marketing, and operations.
• Pamela Trotman Reid, president of Saint Joseph College, and Marc S. Herzog, chancellor of the Connecticut Community Colleges, announced a novel degree-completion program. The agreement allows qualified graduates of the Connecticut Community College Nursing Program to be guaranteed enrollment in Saint Joseph College, where they will can a bachelor of science degree in nursing with a concentration in multicultural health.
• Local home health and hospice care agency VNA HealthCare recently received a $25,000 grant from the Samuel Roskin Trust at the Hartford Foundation for Public Giving to expand the agency’s Kosher Meals on Wheels program. The grant will enable the agency to provide more than 3,000 kosher meals to those who need assistance with paying for the meals.
• Trumpf Inc. of Farmington recently donated 10 of its TruTool S130 power tools for Haiti’s reconstruction efforts. Trumpf made the donation to Relief International, a nonprofit rated four stars by Charity Navigator. The power tools will be used for Relief International’s shelter program and hand carried into Haiti by volunteers. The company and its employees also donated money to the Haitian relief effort.
