• Small businesses in Connecticut that specialize in Connecticut-grown food products may be eligible for up to $300,000 each in federal funds to help market their products internationally. The money is available through the Branding Program, which is offered by the Food Export Association of the Northeast. Small businesses using at least 50 percent agricultural products may qualify. • Quaker Green, a Ginsburg Development Companies’ neighborhood of townhomes and condominiums in West Hartford’s Elmwood District, has captured two awards for best smart growth community in Hartford County and best special purpose room in a community in Connecticut in the Home Building Industry Awards sponsored by the Home Builders Association of Connecticut.

• APS Technology Inc. has been named to the Connecticut Technology Council’s inaugural UHY LLP Tech Top 40 program, a celebration of the state’s 40 fastest-growing technology companies in the energy/environmental technology category. APS is forecasting a 51 percent compound annual growth rate for 2005-2008. To qualify, companies must have had operating revenues of at least $50,000 in 2004 and $3 million in 2007.

 

• For the 10th consecutive year, the Connecticut Lottery Corporation has earned the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Government Finance Officers Association. The annual certificate is GFOA’s highest form of recognition for achievement in governmental accounting and financial reporting.

• East Hartford-based Full Capture Solutions Inc., a provider of analytic and search software tailored specifically for the insurance industry, won the Financial Services Company of the Year award at the second annual Innovation Pipeline Awards and Technology Showcase. The Connecticut Technology Council, the state’s association representing the technology sector, annually recognizes companies with sales of less than $10 million with an innovative product and a business model that demonstrates potential for success. Full Capture was also recognized as one of 100 technology “companies to watch” for 2008.
