Eversource and Avangrid residential customers who are contracted with third-party electricity suppliers paid a combined $3.5 million more in June than they would have under standard offer pricing from the utilities, according to a late August report from the Office of Consumer Counsel.
About 63.2 percent of supplier customers in Eversource’s territory paid more than standard offer during the month, up from 42.5 percent last June. Meanwhile, 40.3 percent of supplier customers in Avangrid’s territory paid more than the standard offer, up from 35.2 percent, according to the OCC report released Thursday.
Eversource customers paid $3.3 million more while Avangrid customers paid $263,300 more.
From May 2016 to April 2017, Connecticut’s residential customers paid a total of $70.4 million over standard offer, up from $66.1 million in the comparable rolling-year period.
