New York hedge fund Alden Global Capital said Thursday that it has acquired the Journal Register Company, which owns and operates numerous Connecticut newspapers including the New Haven Register, Torrington Register Citizen, Middletown Press, and Connecticut Magazine.
Terms of the deal were not disclosed.
Alden’s acqusisiton of Journal Register Company  comes less than two years after JRC emerged from bankruptcy protection in August 2009.
The Journal Register Company also owns media organizations in nine other states.
