In October, Connecticut’s 128 towns authorized the creation of 528 new housing units, according to the Department of Economic and Community Development. That brings the year-to-date total of new housing units to 5,765. The number of building permits the state’s towns have approved is down for the third year in a row, and this year has seen more than 1,100 less permits issued than the same time last year. The town with the most new housing units coming its way is Stamford, with almost 500 authorized this year.
