Nutmeg State FCU to open No. Haven branch

Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union announced Friday that it plans to open a branch in North Haven in December. The new location, at 109 Washington Ave., will be the third New Haven County branch for the Rocky Hill-based credit union.

The “completely self-serve” branch will allow members to perform account transfers, loan payments, check and cash deposits and withdrawals. Customers can also order new or replacement debit or credit cards, apply for loans and open accounts.

“The focus of the branch is self-service, but we will have Nutmeg staff onsite to educate members and assist anyone needing additional help,” said President and CEO John Holt. “No one should be intimidated by this technology, it really is easy and intuitive and has been very well received by members.”

Another feature of the new branch is DMV Express service, offered in partnership with the Connecticut Department of Motor Vehicles. DMV Express allows customers to renew their driver’s licenses and make official name and address changes. An $8 processing fee is waived for Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union customers.

Nutmeg State Financial Credit Union has ten locations statewide. In New Haven County, the bank currently operates branches in Milford and Orange. Membership is open to anyone who lives, works, worships, attends school or volunteers in Hartford, New Haven, Middlesex or Tolland counties, as well as the cities of Shelton, Stratford and Bridgeport.
