NUTMEG BIG BROTHERS BIG SISTERS EMPLOYEE HONORED

At its 27th annual Public Recognition Night, the New Britain Board of Education recognized local parents, non-parents, teachers, school administrators and personnel, and businesses for going above and beyond to create a dynamic that enhances the learning environment for city students. Ivana Kirk-Thigpen, site-based coordinator at Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters, was presented with a certificate of special recognition for her day-to-day management of the “Beyond School Walls” mentoring program, an innovative mentoring partnership between Nutmeg Big Brothers Big Sisters and Comcast that matches 20 students from New Britain’s Lincoln Elementary School with 20 Comcast employees for mentoring sessions at Comcast’s Western New England regional headquarters in Berlin.
