Well, they may not be Cadillac and Lexus, but the customer-satisfaction survey most associated with rating new-car quality has awarded its top two rankings to the Yankee Gas and NStar Gas units of Northeast Utilities.
J.D. Power & Associates said its survey of 10 of the eastern U.S. region’s midsized gas utilities puts NStar Gas of Massachusetts at the top of the list, followed closely by Yankee Gas of Connecticut.
NStar Gas kept its first place ranking for the second consecutive year, while Yankee Gas rose to second place from third place in 2011.
According to J. D. Power, overall customer satisfaction is measured by using six factors: billing and payment, price, corporate citizenship, communications, customer service, and field service.
Newly merged Hartford-Boston regional utility giant NU owns both. Yankee Gas originally belonged solely to NU.
