Two electric and natural gas divisions of Northeast Utilities have chosen South Windsor, Ledyard and the Capitol Region Council of Governments for a pilot project to train them to use social media as a communications tool.
The three will each receive $8,000 in consulting services over the next year from a Denver social media consulting firm paid for by NU’s Connecticut Light & Power & Co. and Yankee Gas divisions.
All three were among 16 applicants who participated in the competitive selection process.
The Capitol Region Council of Governments (CRCOG) serves 23 towns in the Greater Hartford area.
At the end of the 12-month pilot, the participants must share their lessons in two-way communications via Twitter, Facebook and other social media with other Connecticut communities, said Douglas Fisher, manager of economic development and community relations for CL&P and Yankee.
