NU, UIL declare dividends

Hartford energy provider Northeast Utilities Inc. announced Tuesday an increase in its dividend while New Haven energy provider UIL Holding Corp. declared its dividend.

Northeast Utilities, the parent of Connecticut Light & Power, Yankee Gas and other utilities, declared a dividend of 27.5 cents a share to be paid March 31 to stockholders of record as of March 1. The previous annualized dividend was $1.025 a share.

UIL Holdings Corp., parent of New Haven power utility United Illuminating Co. and three natural gas utilities, declared a quarterly dividend of 43.2 cents a share to be paid April 1 to common stockholders of record as of March 8.
