NSTAR Electric and Gas Co. of Boston, a subsidiary of Hartford’s Northeast Utilities, has reached a contract agreement with its union laborers.
The three-year contract awaits a ratification vote by the Utility Workers Union of America AFL-CIO, Local 369 workers on June 11, and will go into effect immediately once approved.
The deal updates company-sponsored benefits programs. Provisions include annual wage increases of 3 percent, 2.75 percent and 2.5 percent, respectively, a choice of three comprehensive medical, dental and vision plans, an enhanced 401(k) plan for new hires, a Roth IRA optional savings plan feature in the 401(k) and a commitment by the company to maintain its call center in Westwood, Mass.
The agreement covers 1,850 NSTAR employees. NSTAR transmits and delivers electricity and natural gas to 1.4 million customers in eastern and central Massachusetts.
The company merged with NU in April, creating New England’s largest utility with customers in Connecticut, Massachusetts and New Hampshire. NU maintains dual headquarters in Hartford and Boston.
