NRG Home Solar, which has operations in Middletown, said it has launched a unique promotion with an education-related loyalty program that offers incentives for buying a home solar-panel system.
Under the promotion, members of Upromise — a Massachusetts-based subsidiary of college loan giant Sallie Mae that awards cash back on certain purchases to put towards college loans or other accounts — will receive a $500 bonus in their account for purchasing a solar installation from NRG, or $50 in cash for completing an education appointment about home solar.
“This partnership is a first for our industry that will allow us to help more families save for college and potentially reduce their electricity costs by generating clean, renewable power at home,” Kelcy Pegler Jr., NRG Home Solar’s president, said in a statement.
The promotion is available to Upromise member in Connecticut and four other states.
