Northeast paces June rise in U.S. mfg.

The Northeast was among all regions of the U.S. contributing to strong growth in manufacturing and machine-tool orders in June, according to fresh industry data.

June U.S. manufacturing technology consumption was $241.5 million, according to The
Association For Manufacturing Technology and AMTDA, the American Machine Tool Distributors’
Association.

That was 36 percent more than May and 71 percent higher than June 2009, the groups said.

Manufacturing-machine tool orders are a leading indicator of the health and direction of the nation’s economy.
