A New Jersey waste management company, Interstate Waste Services Inc., has acquired North Haven-based Country Disposal Services as part of its tristate expansion strategy.
With the acquisition, Country Disposal has been rebranded as North Atlantic Waste & Recycling. It remains headquartered in North Haven.
The move expands Interstate Waste Services’ (IWS) operations across central and southern Connecticut. The company is backed by private equity investors, including Greenwich-based Littlejohn & Co.
“This acquisition strengthens our presence in Connecticut and affirms our ongoing commitment to delivering dependable, community-focused service,” said Mike DiBella, founder and CEO of IWS.
North Atlantic Waste & Recycling, which has operated as a family-owned business for decades, will integrate its fleet, employees and service operations into IWS’s network. The acquisition terms were not disclosed.
Mike Couden, owner of North Atlantic Waste & Recycling, said the partnership ensures the company’s legacy continues while providing enhanced resources.
The acquisition marks the fifth major purchase by IWS in recent years.
Based in Teaneck, New Jersey, IWS operates more than 1,000 collection vehicles across the greater New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut. The company supports its operations through a network of 33 material recovery, transfer and transload facilities, plus a rail-served solid waste landfill.
