The North Hartford Partnership announced it has secured $300,000 in grants to launch a climate resilience hub at Hartford’s Swift Factory and fund a regional planning study covering three Connecticut cities.
The Greater Hartford Gives Foundation contributed $150,000 to kick off the climate hub at the Swift Factory, a redeveloped former gold leaf manufacturing complex in north Hartford that has operated since 2020 as a community center housing commissary kitchens, small business incubator space, a school and a healthcare clinic.
A separate $150,000 grant from M&T Bank will fund a 14-month feasibility study and master plan for resilience hubs in Hartford, New Haven and Bridgeport, targeting neighborhoods identified as most vulnerable to climate impacts.
The Partnership announced this week it has tapped Leading Culture Solutions and Unity Climate Solutions to lead the planning work, which will cover climate risk assessments, site analysis, community engagement and governance models.
The Partnership is working with Neighborhood Housing Services of New Haven and Greater Bridgeport Community Enterprises on the three-city initiative, according to a press release.
