The Crowley Automotive Group recently donated $70,000 to the Greater CT/Western MA Chapter of JDRF (Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation), the world’s largest nonprofit supporter of Type 1 diabetes (T1D) research. This donation brings the total raised by Crowley Automotive Group over the last 18 years to $935,000.

Hands On Hartford recently received a $5,000 grant from SBM Charitable Foundation to support its weekend Backpack Nutrition Program for Hartford children. Established in 2006, the Backpack Nutrition Program provides backpacks full of kid-friendly, easy-to-prepare meals and snacks to 305 Hartford school children each weekend.

The Coldwell Banker Residential Brokerage office in West Hartford has donated $1,900 to the Salvation Army of Greater Hartford for the Adopt-A-Family program. The program enables individuals or groups to sponsor a family and provide donations of new clothing, food, toys and household items during the holiday season. The donation was made through the Coldwell’s charitable arm.

The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp has been named the 2014 PGA TOUR Charity of the Year. The award comes with a $30,000 grant from the PGA TOUR to help The Hole in the Wall Gang Camp provide its unique healing experience to kids coping with cancer, sickle cell disease, hemophilia and other serious illnesses, including those children who may not be able to go to the camp.

Hartford nonprofit HARC has received a $10,000 grant from Bank of America that will support HARC’s residential programs, community services, emergency family and client assistance fund, and Stepping Stones intervention program. HARC provides basic human needs for people with intellectual and related disabilities and their families.

People’s United Community Foundation has awarded $100,000 to DonorsChoose.org for a “Uniting Cash for Classrooms” campaign. The grant will provide 50 percent of the cost for classroom projects that meet the foundation’s criteria throughout Connecticut.
The funding is allocated on a first-come, first-served basis, so teachers are encouraged to submit their classroom requests on DonorsChoose.org as soon as possible in order to qualify.
