No. 1 golfer Johnson to defend title at 2021 Travelers Championship

Top-ranked golfer Dustin Johnson has agreed to defend his title at the 2021 Travelers Championship in Cromwell, the tournament announced Wednesday.

“We’re excited to have our reigning champion in the field as we continue to develop plans for what we expect to be another world-class tournament,” tournament Director Nathan Grube said.

Johnson, in his fourth start at TPC River Highlands last year, was able to hold off Kevin Streelman by one shot after erasing a two-shot deficit at the start of the final round of the 2020 Travelers Championship. The win gave Johnson at least one win in all 13 of his PGA seasons, the tour’s longest active streak.

The 2021 Travelers Championship is scheduled for June 21–27 at TPC River Highlands in Cromwell and may allow some spectators this year, after a spectator-free 2020 event due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Tournament officials are working with health experts to determine the number of spectators that can be admitted safely.
