NJ grocer expands to CT via Porricelli’s buyout

New Jersey upscale grocer Kings Food Markets has expanded into Connecticut with its buyout of Porricelli’s Market in Greenwich, authorities say.

Kings Food, of Parsippany, N.J., announced Monday it acquired the family-run food store at 26 Arcadia Road, in the town’s Old Greenwich section, for an undisclosed sum.

Founded in 1950 by Genaro “Jerry” Porricelli, the store is known for its fresh and prepared foods.

Seventy-five-year-old Kings Food has 24 stores in New Jersey and New York.
