TransAxle LLC, a manufacturer of heavy-duty truck parts, plans to close all of its locations across the United States, including one in Killingly, after failing to secure a buyer for the company.
TransAxle announced the layoffs in a filing with the state Department of Labor.
The closure will result in 209 employees losing their jobs across 16 locations, including the company’s headquarters in Cinnaminson, New Jersey.
In Killingly, TransAxle employs four workers at its facility at 429 Lake Road.
The employees – a branch manager, sales representative and two drivers/warehouse workers – will be terminated from July 15 to 29.
New Jersey-based employees will be laid off in the second phase of the winding-down process, from Aug. 15 to 29, the company said.Â
TransAxle, founded in 1979, has been up for sale “for some time,” according to the filing.
TransAxle employs more than 100 workers in New Jersey.Â
It also has offices in Georgia, Maryland, North Carolina, New York, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Virginia and Portland.
