Nissan Leaf stopping by CT

The all-electric Nissan Leaf will make a tour stop this weekend at the Westfarms Mall in Farmington, part of the carmaker’s publicity campaign.

The Leaf consumer experience, which includes test drives, will be available from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Sunday at the Westfarms Mall.

The Leaf operates purely on an electric battery, which can get up to 100 miles per charge, depending on weather, driving style and many other factors. The cars initial markets are mostly warm-weather states and places with advanced electric vehicle infrastructure, such as California.

Connecticut is home to about 70 electric vehicles, although none of them are Leafs. The majority in the state are either the all-electric Tesla Roadster or the Chevrolet Volt, which runs on an electric battery until switching over to a gasoline-power motor.
