Nieves swaps seats to run Capital Community

Middlesex Community College President Wilfredo Nieves has been named incoming president at Capital Commujnity College in Hartford.

Trustees of Connecticut’s Community College system and Chancellor Marc S. Herzog announced the appointment Wednesday.

Nieves will succeed Calvin Woodland, who is retiring after five years as Capital’s president.

Both will form a transition team to prepare for Nieves to formally take the reins sometime this summer, authorities said.

An educator for more than 30 years, Nieves has been president at Middlesex community in Middletown since 2001.
