Nichols resigns from Mark Twain House

Jeffrey Nichols has submitted his resignation for his position as executive director of the Mark Twain House and Museum in Hartford.

Nichols is leaving to become president and chief executive officer of Poplar Forest, Thomas Jefferson’s plantation retreat near Lynchburg, Va.

Nichols held his position at the Mark Twain House and Museum for the past five years. During his tenure as executive director, the museum saw record attendance rates and received the Hartford Courant/Fox CT Top Workplaces award.

Patti Philippon, Beatrice Fox Auerbach Chief Curator of the museum, will replace Nichols as Interim Director.
