Newman’s Own gifts $30K to Boys/Girls Clubs

The Connecticut philanthropic foundation of the family of late actor Paul Newman has donated $30,000 to the Boys & Girls Clubs of Hartford for education and skills programming.

Newman’s Own Foundation, which annually donates profits from a line of retail food products, supports the club’s membership roster of youths ages 6 to 12 and 13 to 18 tackle their homework with focus and direction each day.

Youths in the “Power Hour Program” develop success skills designed to develop proficiency in basic educational disciplines, setting goals, exploring careers and learning about technology, said Boys & Girls Clubs CEO Samuel S. Gray Jr.

The foundation also supports the Hole In The Wall Camps in the U.S. and overseas, including one in Ashford, that caters to kids with life-threatening illnesses.
