Newly acquired Glastonbury firm sells 1st power plant

Glastonbury electricity generator maker PW Power Systems sold its first power plant since Pratt & Whitney sold it in May.

Pratt sold the division to Mitsubishi Heavy Industries for an undisclosed sum, part of United Technology Corp.’ s divestiture of several of its subsidiaries following its acquisition of Charlotte-based Goodrich Corp. for $16 billion.

The PW Power Systems electricity plants are based off the designs of Pratt & Whitney jet engines and can generated power up to 120 megawatts.

PW Power Systems on Wednesday announced the sale of its first natural gas turbine since the Mitsubishi takeover to Exelon Generation. Exelon purchased a 120-megawatt generator for a facility in Hartford County, Md.
