Newington electric vehicle charger station installer CT Electric Car announced Tuesday it has been selected as one of the Tesla’s recommended car charging station installers in the region.
Tesla had pushed hard this past legislative session to be able to sell its electric cars directly to consumers, but that bill did not get passed. The automaker still plans on opening a Tesla dealership in Connecticut, according to CT Electric Car.
Tesla has a wall connector charging station product for customers that buy one of its electric cars, and CT Electric Car has been pushing for the business to install those chargers, among its other charging stations.
Connecticut has 1,600 electric cars, including 500 Teslas. Connecticut is offering up to $3,000 in incentives to residents who purchase or lease an electric car, on top of a $7,500 federal tax credit.
