Newington aeroparts maker acquires Mass. manufacturer

A Newington company that makes advanced mechanical systems for aerospace applications has acquired a Massachusetts manufacturer of precision components.

PCX Aerosystems said it bought Honematic Machine Corp. from the Cusimano family on April 1. Financial details of the transaction were not disclosed.

HMC, which has its headquarters in Boylston, Massachusetts, is a leading supplier of extendable refueling probes for the rotorcraft market, and also produces precision, large-format drilling, boring, milling and finishing components for aerospace, defense and industrial customers.

PCX officials said the acquisition will enable the vertical integration of some existing production processes and create opportunities for collaboration with another recently acquired segment, Aero-K, which makes aerial refueling boom sub-assemblies and complex components and assemblies for fixed-wing aviation and submarine applications.

PCX absorbed Aero-K, which is based in California, in January.

PCX produces complex parts machined from alloys such as aluminum, magnesium, titanium, and steel. Its clients include Boeing, General Electric Aircraft Engines, Bell and Sikorsky.
