New York-based home care agency expands in CT

Caring People, a home care agency, is launching a new branch in New Haven.

The New York-based company’s local office, at 72 Church St., will service New Haven, Fairfield and Middlesex counties.

Caring People provides a range of services for senior citizens, such as Alzheimer’s disease and dementia care, companion, respite, skilled nursing and hands-on care. It also has offices in Hartford and Norwalk, and serves communities in New York, New Jersey, Florida and Texas.

“We are excited to offer complete senior home care services in (the New Haven area),” the company said. “It’s our desire to support seniors in their desire for home health care, to age independently, and maintain their ability to do so in their home.”

Caring People, which is family-owned and operated, was founded in 2001 in Queens, New York, in CEO Steven East’s grandmother’s kitchen. Over the past two decades, it has grown to become one of the largest home health care providers in the country.

This month, the company announced multiple acquisitions and plans for continued national growth.

In addition to starting a New Haven branch, the company has joined forces with Aging Care LLC of Glastonbury; Acappella In Home Care of Dallas, Texas; and AMR Care Group of New York.

Caring People acquired Aging Care LLC from owner and founder Joanne LaCava Foss, who has more than 30 years of experience as a registered nurse and is certified as a care manager and dementia practitioner. Aging Care LLC assists seniors and their families throughout central Connecticut.

“As our elder population explodes, the need for care management will follow,” Foss said in an announcement. “Expert care managers assist to remove the fear of the unknown our aging population experiences while promoting quality of life. I am happy to have partnered with Caring People, a leader in the home care arena.”

According to East, these expansions are just the beginning.

“Our plans for projected growth will continue catapulting Caring People into new markets and territories throughout the northeast and beyond,” East said.
