New West Hartford apartment development opens waiting list

The Elle at North Main, a new apartment development in West Hartford, announced Friday it is now accepting “pre-applications.”

The apartments, at 1244 North Main St., are being developed on the former site of the historic Agudas Achim synagogue.

The Elle will offer 49 units, 39 of which will be available to households earning at or below 60% of the area median income. The rest of the units will be offered at market rates.

According to information provided by West Hartford Economic Development officials, eligibility is subject to household minimum and maximum income limits, and other eligibility criteria under the federal Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) and DOH HOME/FLEX Programs.

The current 2025-26 project maximum income limits range from $53,172 for an individual to $88,114 for a family of six.

Rents will range from approximately $1,187-$1,424 for a one-bedroom apartment, $1,424-$1,709 for a two-bedroom unit, and $1,975 for a three-bedroom unit, depending on household income level.

Interested applicants must apply between Nov. 4 and Jan. 5, 2026 11:59 p.m. Applicants may apply by submitting a pre-application online at www.ElleNorthMain.com; or requesting an appointment during the application period if assistance is needed to complete the application.

The Elle at North Main will use a random-draw lottery system to determine the waiting list order from all applications.
