New Starling Physicians medical center planned for Southington

A medical group is planning to build a new office suite center on West Street, Route 229, in Southington.

Applicant Southington Sparrow LLC, an affiliate of Rocky-Hill based Starling Physicians and Chimeara Holdings LLC, will build a 24,000-square-foot, one-story medical center at 1908 West St.

Starling, one of central Connecticut’s largest physician groups, was recently acquired by VillageMD, a company backed by pharmacy giant Walgreens.
It offers primary, specialty and urgent care services across 30 Greater Hartford locations.

The 2.36 parcel of land owned by Southington-based The Fragola Co. LLC is currently vacant.

Applicants gained site plan approval from the PZC in October 2022, and submitted a revised application last month to relocate the driveway and remove an easement on the property to the south.

The property is located near the intersection of West Queen Street, close to industrial-based businesses like BMS Aerospace, GEMCO Manufacturing Co., and REM Surface Engineering.

Property owners and Starling representatives could not be reached for comment.

Southington has an existing Starling Physicians internal medical facility at 209 Main St. It is not known if the West Street site will be that team’s new location or an additional medical center serving Southington.
