Hartford’s second cannabis retail site, and the first dedicated to only recreational sales, opens Wednesday next to Parkville Market, the company announced.
Higher Collective Hartford is debuting its new storefront at 1396 Park St. It’s the fourth equity joint venture dispensary between Higher Collective, founded by former Curaleaf executive Patrik Jonsson, and his former employer Curaleaf, which is based in Massachusetts.
The new business neighbors the popular Parkville Market food hall. Hartford resident Kevin Henry is Higher Collective’s social equity partner for the business.
The new Hartford location adds to Higher Collective’s growing network of dispensaries, which also includes retail sites in Killingly, New London and Willington.
Higher Collective Hartford is the first new dispensary in the city since the adult-use market launched Jan. 10. Curaleaf also operates a hybrid dispensary in Hartford, at 92 Weston St., that serves both medical and recreational cannabis customers.Â
Three percent of Higher Collective Hartford’s gross revenues will go to the city of Hartford. Connecticut imposes a 3% municipal sales tax on cannabis retailers.
Higher Collective plans to open three additional Connecticut retail locations in early 2024.
